MECHAGODZILLA

Dave Filoni's Mechagodzilla '75

How did you make the decision to to build your Mechagodzilla costume?

"My friends and I, when I lived in Burbank, we would just always for Halloween in LA do, some kind of crazy costume. We'd always try to outdo each other. And so I had just bought the Billiken 1975 Kit of Mechagodzilla, and I thought that kit was just fantastic. It was so well detailed, right down to the little diecast rockets you stick in his fingers, and for whatever reason, I was like, I think I'm going to try making this. So I used that as my guide, and I built that whole costume, for Halloween. And it was really fun to do."

REFERENCE FIGURE

Classic Billiken 1975 Mechagodzilla

Back in the early 2000’s there were NO high-res images online, and getting screen caps of DVDs was not easy. So besides of just of relying on images from magazines and blurry DVDs, Dave used one of the ultimate figures to base his costume on, the Billiken 1975 Figure of Mechagodzilla. Using a figure allows you to spin it around to see the details from every single angle.
