"I have been a huge fan of Godzilla ever since I saw GODZILLA VS. THE THING. As a teenager, my brother and I worked with friend to make several Godzilla suits and the last one was used in the 80’s movie PEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE. I moved to Hollywood in 1982 during the height of the makeup effects boom and got to work on numerous creatures. In 1995, I started my own company, Total Fabrication. Since CGI has taken over a lot of the creature work, we’ve done more kids shows, commercials, mascot, etc. than actual monsters.
It was fun to finally get a commission to make a wearable Godzilla replica from a collector. I would have preferred to do one of the original series version but he wanted GODZILLA 2000. This was particularly intimidating since I know the original designer, Shinichi Wakasa. For budgetary reasons, we had to fabricate the entire suit rather than sculpting and molding it, more like the originals were.”
