Godzilla Minus One – Official Trailer #2
In this movie it is possible to wound Godzilla from the inside (his mouth for example). As you can see here he posses abnormal healing qualities that allows him to regenerate amazingly quick.
Another unique characteristic of G -1 is the texture of his body. There are many different sized protrusions, bumps and jagged scales. There is a definite aquatic influence in his skin texture which seems to be influenced by barnacles and coral reef shapes.
The dorsal plates are huge, more organic in nature, and have thin lines running up them. When Godzilla is about to fire his atomic breath they jut out one at a time and then a split second before firing they quickly lock back into place.
On January 23, Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi and Tatsuji Nojima were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, on their work on Godzilla Minus One. All 610 of the film’s visual effect shots were handled by a crew of 35 artists at Shirogumi’s Chōfu studio, under the supervision of Yamazaki, and direction of Kiyoko Shibuya. Yamazaki himself had to go overtime and do the visual effects himself at certain occasion. The entire process spanned from April 2022 to May 2023. Thank you, Yamazaki. Thank you, Toho. And thank you, Godzilla.
Here are screencaps from the movie, trailer, as well as images from figures, statues and more. Many of these figures have been created from the 3D model so they are pretty accurate. Some of the images may have been modified to see the textures more easily.
